MLB 2014 Bold Division + Post Season Predictions, And Gambling Tips For Experts

By Chuck Booth (Lead Baseball Analyst/Website Owner):

Follow MLB Reports On Twitter

The 2014 season is quickly coming, and many people are putting together their yearly predictions for MLB for both of the AL and NL.

One of the things people must remember to do, is to have their teams all equal 2430 wins. Since they are that many games in any given campaign (at least to start with before any cancellations are never played).

This is the 1st thing to look for.

Obviously every team should add to 162 games in the W – L columns of each squad.

Furthermore, you also have to account for the record in Interleague play between the AL in NL (this represents 290 games out of the 2430 game schedule.)

One of the new concepts we have put forth on the MLB Reports is also each Divisions record.  To help you in your prognostications, here is the template the Hunter Stokes (our chief writer) used for his.

We still wait a few weeks for the final predictions before the 1st pitch of the season is thrown.

We will be having a predictions podcast hosted by James Acevedo and yours truly – on the season show ‘premiere’ of “2 And A Hook Podcast” in 2 weeks time.

Here are my predictions as of today for 2014.  They will be finalized before the opening series in Australia.

Playoffs

Before we can enter into the playoffs, we must determine the 2nd Wild Card team between the Yankees and Royals.

I am going to say the Yanks edge out Kansas City 4 – 3 in the game in extra innings.

James Shields will have thrown well, but the Yankees comeback off of the Bullpen of KC late.

WC AL

New York over Oakland

WC NL

Cincinnati over San Francisco

LDS AL

Detroit over New York in 4

Texas over Tampa Bay in 5

LDS NL

Washington over St. Louis in 5

LA Dodgers over Cincinnati in 4

ALCS

Detroit over Texas in 7

LA Dodgers over Washington in 7

World Series

LA Dodgers over Detroit in 7

Division Rankings would go like this based on Win PCTG

This is a good guage for Strength of Scheduling.  It may be why the AL East may only have one playoff birth, even though I predicted a 2nd one here.

1. AL East

2. NL West

3. AL West

4. AL Central

5. NL Central

6. NL East

Each team will also split up the pie of a $700 MIL+ a year National TV Broadcasting deal - that could help each organization spend out even more cash than ever in going forward. The current CBA will expire after the 2016 campaign, with a trajectory of salaries all going nothing but up, where is the limit the totals will reach?
